    Description

Antique "Ask For Shults' Bread" Sign - It looks like it was part of a wooden display shelf.  One end of the board has a 45 degree cut.  This was found in an old store that has been closed for many years so I have no history on it.  It is about 28 1/2" Long and 9 1/2" tall.
Apparently, formed from the consolidation of several bread wholesalers, for a few years the Shults' Bread Co. was one of the most prolific bakeries in NYC. They operated a dozen factories in and around the city of New York. In 1923 they were acquired, in a stock deal, by the United Bakeries Corporation.
