Description
This is a rare Hillbilly Bread advertising vest. It would have been worn during store promotions for Hillbilly bread. This vest is from sometime before 1982 because the Hillbilly has a rifle. This is the original logo for Hillbilly bread. In 1982 the company decided to be more politically correct, and changed the Hillbilly's rifle to a fishing pole. All the pre-1982 Hillbilly stuff will have a rifle. There is a small spot stain at the back near the bottom, and a water type stain by the neck area. There are shadows on the other pictures from just trying to get decent pictures.
Hillbilly Bread is a whole grain bread that was licensed for production to commercial bakeries by Roush Products Co. Inc. of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Roush Products was a small milling and blending company that manufactured several hundred different whole grain bread mixes for commercial bakeries. Roush Products owned the trademarks to the mixes and all that a bakery needed to do to bake Hillbilly Bread was to buy the bread mix from Roush Products. I worked at Roush Products from 1982 until the company was purchased by Pillsbury in the early 1990's.
